Hope Filled Scripture

From Hope in Empty Places.

My wife, Gina, was the research assistant for the following Hope Scriptures. She was working on this compilation at a lake house loaned to us for this writing purpose. I saw her with her Bible open alongside hard copy pages of verses that she had typed.

I asked Gina why she didn’t just use Bible Gateway to copy and paste the references. She looked up at me (as only Gina can) and said, “Because each time I retype these scriptures, Charlie, they get deeper inside of me.” Then without breaking eye contact, she verbally recited the last four verses she had typed.

There are no shortcuts to discipleship. It is indeed a “long obedience in the same direction.” This Treasury of Hope Scriptures is courtesy of Gina’s discipleship. They are not typed here for your convenience but for your discipleship. I encourage you to rewrite or retype them so they get deeper inside of you.

Let us hold unswervingly the Hope we profess, for He who promised is faithful.
(Hebrews 10:23)

Yet this I call to mind and therefore I have Hope: Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning;
great is your faithfulness.

For you have been my Hope, O Sovereign Lord, my confidence since my youth. From birth I have relied on you.

But as for me, I watch in Hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior;
my God will hear me.

Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my Hope comes from Him.

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose Hope is in his unfailing love. We wait in Hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In Him our hearts rejoice for we trust in His holy name. May your unfailing love rest upon us O Lord even as we put our Hope in you.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his Word I put my Hope.

Be joyful in Hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Then you will know that I am the Lord, those who Hope in me will not be disappointed. (Isaiah 49:23b)

And Hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom He has given us.

For in this Hope we were saved. But Hope that is seen is no Hope at all. Who Hopes for what he already has? But if we Hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently. (Romans 8:24-25)

God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the Hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. We have this Hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. (Hebrews 6:18-20)

I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the Hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
(Ephesians 1:18-19)

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy He has given us new birth into a living Hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade - kept in heaven for you.
(1 Peter 1:3-4)

Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their Hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their Hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the Hope of glory.
